The Makita DUH751Z is a high-quality cordless hedge trimmer that is designed for the precision trimming of hedges and bushes. It comes with a powerful 18V lithium-ion battery.

A speed control dial activates this trimmer’s six different cutting speeds. While the handle rotates into five different positions making it a very versatile trimmer.

Although heavier than other models, it offers a powerful and efficient cut.

At over 1.2m in length and 4.5kg with the battery pack, this Makita trimmer is heavy for a cordless model. But, when you’ve got lots of dense conifers or woody laurel you’ll be glad to have it.

The 75cm blade and triple-edged tooth design break up even the toughest of hedges.

Whatever the hedge type, the three-speed brushless motor makes light work of it. Plus, when paired with Makita’s 18v 5.0Ah battery, the DUH751Z seems to go on forever.

With 90 minutes of use from a single charge. The rotating handle kept things comfortable for both horizontal and vertical trimming. A great alternative to a hefty petrol model, the DUH751Z is great for demanding jobs.

The Bosch AHS 50-20 Li gives you much more cutting power in a blade big enough to tackle larger, taller hedges.

This model chews through everything you can throw at it, including lonicera, laurel, and woody conifer hedging.

What’s more, it takes massive and untidy hedges in its stride, meaning you’ll get through that summer or late-autumn trim that much faster.

It takes just over an hour to charge and runs for up to 80 minutes. The Bosch AHS 50-20 is ready for hard work whilst making it look easy.

The Einhell GE-CH 1846 doesnt have a rotating head like some of the other hedge trimmers and it struggles on woodier stems. It does cut well on thinner growth, making it great for smaller, less mature hedges.

The GE-CH 1846 comes with a powerful 18V lithium-ion battery that is capable of providing 40 minutes runtime. It has a blade length of 46cm, which is perfect for trimming small to large hedges.

Given its smaller size, the blade is long and sleeve-type blade guard which feels sturdy.

Conclusion

When it comes to choosing the right cordless hedge trimmer, it depends on your needs and your garden.

Blade length, cutting capacity, battery life, weight, and maneuverability should all be taken into account.

Some are lightweight and maneuverable, while the Makita and Dealt are heavier and more robust. The Bosch AHS 50–20 LI and WORX WG261E are great all-rounders.

It’s important to choose a hedge trimmer that meets your specific gardening needs. The ideal hedge trimmer will offer a balance of power, precision, and ease of use.
